Meet Hazel — the gentle soul who was almost lost over something that was never truly her story.
Hazel’s journey is a reminder of how easily dogs can be misunderstood—and how life-changing it is when someone takes a second look.
She was originally adopted from a shelter in 2023, only to be returned in 2025 due to a reported “leaky bladder.” With the shelter already at capacity and resources stretched thin, Hazel’s name was added to the euthanasia list.
A life reduced to a misunderstanding.
We were able to bring Hazel into our care on July 11th, 2025—and from that moment on, her story began to shift. With proper care, consistency, and a fresh start, we’ve had no issues with her bladder at all.
What she needed wasn’t to be given up on—she needed a chance.

Hazel is up to date on vaccinations, chipped and spayed. She is in great health with her only intake issue being skin related, due to a chicken allergy we discovered in her allergy testing. We've since got her on a chicken-free food and she is doing beautifully!

Hazel is house trained, crate trained, has learned to sit on command and is currently working on additional training with us. She is food motivated, playful and eager to please so we have had no issues with teaching her new skills. Anyone who adopts Hazel prior to her completing her training will receive complimentary training sessions. We don't want to hold her back from a forever home for things that can be taught at a later time.

Today, Hazel is everything you could hope for in a companion.
She has a way of connecting with people instantly. Everyone she meets falls for her—and the feeling is always mutual. There’s something about her presence that just feels easy… comforting… like she’s always belonged right by your side.
Hazel carries a beautiful balance in her personality. She has a playful, happy spirit that shines through, but she’s just as content being calm, quiet, and close to her people. She’s a cuddler at heart—a dog who would choose a cozy blanket, a walk by your side, or a movie night on the couch over just about anything else.
Sunshine naps and soft places to land? That’s her kind of happiness.
When it comes to other dogs, Hazel does best with those who match her calm, easygoing energy. While she has done well with some more playful personalities, a thoughtful introduction and meet-and-greet will help ensure the right fit for everyone.
Hazel isn’t asking for much—just a home where she can be loved, understood, and included in the simple, everyday moments.
She was almost overlooked for something that turned out not to define her at all.
Now, she’s ready for the life she should have had from the start.
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a gentle heart and a calming presence… Hazel is ready to meet you.
