Sawyer
Sawyer is estimated to be about 6 years old. We are hoping to age test him soon!

Sawyer is our unexpected Misfit, abandoned with is while we boarded him. His owner was helping to run a community event we were invited to participate in. With the event's host hotel not being dog-friendly, we were asked to board his dog for the event's duration since he was driving in from out of state. How could we say no, right?!

We're actually glad that we took him in because his owner wrapped up his event obligations and left the state, leaving Sawyer behind. After numerous attempts to contact him, he finally responded with a text to apologize but stated he wouldn't be returning. We can't imagine what would have happened had Sawyer been left somewhere else.
​
Sawyer arrived withdrawn, afraid of people and other dogs and in desperate need of medical care. His skin was bright red, he had large bald spots with scabs and his fur was falling out in clumps.
​
His medical intake revealed vitamin and mineral deficiencies, a skin infection, suspected food allergies and urinary tract infection. He received medical treatment for his infections, medicated baths and allergen testing.
Sawyer is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Nutritional testing revealed he was allergic to the food he was eating so we made an easy food switch to a food he is loving and thriving on!

His infections have resolved with treatment and he was given a clean bill of health!
Sawyer is an affectionate boy who is incredibly smart. He has basic obedience training and complimentary training sessions are available to his adoptive family.
While Sawyer started out confused and withdrawn, joining the Misfit family has been hugely beneficial for him and it's been an amazing transformation to witness. Receiving much needed medical care, being provided the proper food for his needs along with love, support and training has turned him into an extremely affectionate and playful boy.

He has done well with all of the people we've introduced him to, big and small, and has done well in organized activities with other dogs too.
​
He would be great in any home environment (house, condo, apartment) and while he loves to play and go on walks/hikes, his age allows for a calmer dog who is just as happy with a stroll around the neighborhood and lounging at home.
