Nina's Story
Sometimes the hardest part of rescue isn't finding a dog.
It's making sure they aren't forgotten.
Nina came to our boarding and training company for what was supposed to be a temporary boarding stay while her family moved into a new home. She was heartbroken when they never came back for her.
Nina had nowhere to go.
So she stayed.
And somewhere along the way, she stopped being "the boarding dog."
She became family.
Nina officially joined the Misfit family in November of 2020, and since that day she's received everything she needed to leave her past behind—compassionate medical care, individualized nutrition, training, and, most importantly, the security of knowing she'll never be left wondering where she belongs again.
Today, Nina is exactly where she's meant to be.
Safe.
Loved.
Home.

Nina's Health Journey
One of the first things we learned about Nina was that she was actually three years older than originally believed. Age testing helped us better understand her needs and ensure she received the care that was right for her.
She also arrived with severe food and environmental allergies that affected nearly every part of her body—from her skin and coat to her digestive system, urinary health, and joints.
Over time, with compassionate veterinary care, guidance from a clinical pet nutritionist, and a customized nutrition plan, Nina has made incredible progress. Today she's up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and continues to thrive with the individualized care she receives at the Ranch.

Nina's Training
Nina has completed both basic and advanced obedience training and is also house trained and crate trained. Training has been an important part of helping her build confidence, strengthen her bond with people, and enjoy a structured, enriching life here at the Ranch.

Why I'm a Sanctuary Misfit
Nina's medical needs require lifelong, specialized care. She receives daily medication, routine veterinary visits, regular testing to monitor and adjust her treatment, a carefully managed diet, and ongoing guidance from a clinical pet nutritionist to help keep her feeling her best.
Some days are easier than others, but Nina doesn't let that stop her from enjoying life.
She loves chasing tennis balls, spending time with her canine friends, and never turns down a good belly rub or an afternoon of cuddling on the couch. Her joyful spirit reminds us every day that happiness isn't measured by the challenges we face—it's found in the moments we get to share with those we love.
Because of her ongoing medical and nutritional needs, Nina has found her forever home as a sanctuary resident at Misfit Ranch. Here, she'll always receive the individualized care she deserves, surrounded by familiar faces, lifelong friends, and the people committed to making sure she never has to worry about tomorrow again.
Your support helps make that promise possible.
